How soon can I set a new patient appointment?
The average wait time for a new patient appointment is four weeks (one month). During busy times of the year (fall and spring season) the average wait time for a new patient appointment is approximately six weeks.
Do you accept walk ins or emergency appointments?
This practice does not accept walk in appointments nor is equipped to offer emergency therapy appointments for new patients. Established patients of JLPS that need an emergency appointment can arrange for that service directly with Dr. Johnson. If you are in a crisis and need immediate attention, please go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room.
How long are therapy appointments?
All first appointments for new patients are typically clinical interview appointments that are one hour in length regardless of the service that you are seeking. Each subsequent mental health counseling therapy appointments are 45 to 50 minutes in length. Reiki therapy sessions are 35 or 65 minutes in length depending on individual preference. Crystal therapy appointments are 35 minutes in length.
Are payment plans accepted for self-pay services?
Payment plans are only accepted for psychological assessment services that are not covered by the patient’s insurance company. Fifty percent (50%) of the cost of the service is expected at the first appointment with the remainder due at the feedback appointment. Please note, the feedback appointment will not be scheduled until payment can be rendered. All self-pay mental health counseling and holistic health services must be paid in full at the time the services are rendered.
Do you prescribe and dispense psychiatric medications for mental health conditions?
No, psychiatric medication is only prescribed and dispensed by a psychiatrist (a medical doctor, M.D.). There are no psychiatrists on staff at this practice.
Do you offer court appointed services (i.e. mandatory counseling, anger management classes, parent training classes, forensic services)?
No, JLPS does not offer any court appointed services.
